Chromo - colour
Son - sound, noise
Chromoson is an immersive performance created in collaboration with light installation artist Samantha Mitchell-Fin and is inspired by the multi-sensory phenomenon of synaesthesia. The work is designed to be performed in 10 channel surround sound with 4 video projections surrounding the audience and one projector directed on to the audience. The audience are seated in the centre of the performance space and are encouraged to dress in lab coats so the projections can be seen on their bodies throughout the performance. The work is primarily acousmatic but has one live section for solo soprano and sampler as the central movement. The performance is controlled by a specially designed Max MSP patch. Originally commissioned by Trinity Grammar School's Society of the Arts its premiere performance was at the Delmar Gallery on the 4th November 2010.
